DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF DHAKA DHAKA 1000, BANGLADESH |
Introduction to the Group and Aims
Geohazard Research Group (GRG) is based in the Department of Geology at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. GRG was formed in 1996 in response to the rising level of geoenvironmental concern that demands multi-disciplinary scientific approach for its solution. GRG is an informal grouping of academic researchers working together to increase the understanding of the underlying geological controls of various environmental hazards especially dealing with Sediment Pollution, Ground- & Surface- Water Pollution, Solute Transport, Flow Dynamics, Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment, Earthquake, Land-slide & -subsidence, and Mine Hazards through field, laboratory based and computer modeling studies. |
Research Strategy | |
The research domains include hazardous waste site investigation, innovative hydrogeological assessment techniques, environmental base-line, impact and site assessments, design and implementation of subsurface remediation plans.
Arsenic contamination in groundwater has been taken as one of the most important research domains by the GRG.
GRG performs sponsored and non-sponsored researches both of academic and industrial interests. |
